End Of Year Update 2017

By Paul Wardingham

Merry Christmas everyone!

Another year about to come to a close. I hope it was a great one for you.

If I could sum up my thoughts about 2017, it would be: patience is progress.

For me, 2017 has been a big year of creativity, study, experimentation and ultimately self-discovery. It’s caused me to be a bit of a studio recluse which at times has been frustrating, but a necessary step in order for me to pursue new musical adventures in 2018 and beyond.

2018 is set to be a big year of change, with the release of Electromancer on 12th March and Spiritual Machines 2.0, a remixed, remastered alternate version featuring additional production and including 2 new tracks. Plus, there will be an unprecedented amount of new online content and promotion and very likely a new studio location. Exciting times ahead!

I wish you all a happy and safe holidays and I will be back early next year with the first single from Electromancer and other goodies.

Paul Wardingham: Electromancer Artwork, Release Date and Track Listing Revealed!

By Paul Wardingham

After making waves in the metal guitar community in 2011 with his debut album Assimilate Regenerate, and fresh take on instrumental guitar music, Paul Wardingham will release his 4th completely self-produced instrumental solo album Electromancer in 2018.

Electromancer is a totally self-indulgent, cyberpunk movie inspired, synthesizer infused, futuristic shred-fest, that brings together my favourite music genres: metal and electronic music, closer than ever before! I can’t wait for people to hear it and see the reaction.

Like Wardingham’s sophomore effort The Human Affliction, Electromancer is a concept album inspired by an original story set on Earth in the year 2217.

The story follows “Electromancer” a cyborg anti-hero and his biomech protector called “MX-106” as they evade enemies and authorities to get to Mars with the “Cyber Drive”. The “Cyber Drive is a weapon that could be used to destroy life on either Earth or Mars, both of whom are on the verge of war. My previous albums have been inspired by technology and the affect it has on us right now and in the future, but “Electromancer” is pure fantasy! I whole-heartedly embraced my inner sci-fi nerd on this album.”

Electromancer features stunning cover artwork by Light The Torch (ex-Devil You Know) and former All Shall Perish guitarist Francesco Artusato.

The Human Affliction story was character based, but nobody got to meet those characters. This time I wanted the characters to be at the forefront of the visual aspect of the album. As a fan of Francesco’s music I was amazed when I came across his artwork on instagram. He liked my concept, and we started throwing ideas back and forth. He absolutely nailed the vision I had for the artwork and then took it to another level.

Electromancer is set for release March 12th 2018 on Enigmatic Records.

Recording Begins For My 4th Solo Album “Electromancer”

By Paul Wardingham

You may have noticed I have been missing in action for the last 6 months. Well, as you can imagine, I haven’t been on vacation!

I’ve been busy writing new material and working on pre-production for a number of new solo releases planned over the next 18 months.

Finally, I’m excited to announce that next week, recording will begin on my 4th solo album “Electromancer“!

I’m not going to give away too much about it just yet, but it’s shaping up to be my most ambitious and “cyber” sounding album to date!

Look out for video updates of the recording of “Electromancer” on my YouTube channel and via social media over coming weeks.

Spiritual Machines Studio Report #2: Recording Begins!

By Paul Wardingham

Hey guys,

After spending the last 4 weeks working on some 20+ demos written over the last 6 months, I have finally chosen 10 tracks to record for ‘Spiritual Machines’.

Now the fun really starts with the official recording starting this week!

There are a lot of new things that I’m bringing to the table for this album and I’m excited that in many ways it’s going to sound and feel quite different to both Assimilate Regenerate and The Human Affliction.

I’ve decided that I want this new material to be heard at a more developed stage so I’m going to hold off on teasers for the time being. Not long now though!

Spiritual Machines Studio Report #1

By Paul Wardingham

The first stage of pre-production on ‘Spiritual Machines’ has been lots of fun. I’ve spent an extra couple of weeks working on guitar tones, synth sounds and generally putting together the sonic palette for this new album.

This week I’m going through the demos of the new songs and starting to develop them into the final versions.

There is going to be a lot more layering on this album I think. Already the demos display more different guitar sounds than I have used before.

I’ve been recording video footage as I go, but haven’t had a chance to edit anything together yet. I want to keep on top of my deadline. I’ll see how I go the next couple of weeks.

Spiritual Machines

By Paul Wardingham

You may have seen from recent social media updates that I have already begun work on my 3rd solo album.

Thanks to all the support I got for The Human Affliction, I have been able to dedicate more time to writing music, and now already the recording has begun on my new album titled ‘Spiritual Machines’.

Over the next 4 months I will be sharing regular video updates of the making of the new album, so you can hear teasers and experience the process with me.

I’m hoping to release ‘Spiritual Machines’ this September.

Stay tuned for updates!

The Reaction

By Paul Wardingham

Hi friends,

Feels great to finally have a new track out in cyberspace. The reaction has been overwhelming to the release of Beyond Human.

It really has blown me away!

I knew I wanted to come out with a hard hitting track for the first single and at the same time show a bit more of how my sound has progressed from Assimilate Regenerate.

After reading some comments on social media, I came to realise that some of you guys have been following me since I released Interactive in 2006!

Thanks to everyone who has supported me. I can’t say it enough, it really means a lot!

Can’t wait for you to hear what I have in store for you next!

Past. Present. Future.

By Paul Wardingham

Hey friends,

It’s been a long time. Feels good to be finally coming back with some new music to share with you.

When I recorded Assimilate Regenerate, I had no idea how incredible the response would be… or if anyone would even like it! Making an instrumental guitar album had been a dream of mine since I first heard Joe Satriani’s Surfing With The Alien as a teenager.

Now, more than 3 years later, The Human Affliction has been quite a journey!

Whilst almost completed in 2012, much of the material has been re-written or is completely brand new for this release. Some of the original material from 2 years ago will be making its way onto a release next year.

That’s right, you’re going to be getting 2 new releases from me! But more on that another time.

How are you guys liking the new website? Make sure you sign up to my mailing list to be the first to get all the latest The Human Affliction news, music and videos coming out.

I’m looking forward to releasing the first single Beyond Human very soon…

So get ready for some serious future metal shred!

Stay cyber,

Paul Wardingham
